Where Great Worship Environments Actually Begin
Many church worship/production projects begin with equipment purchases instead of intentional planning - often leading to wasted budget, redesigns, and systems that never fully serve the ministry.
This interactive session explores why early collaboration, thoughtful design, and clear vision produce more efficient, effective church audio / visual environments. Through practical insights and open discussion,
church leaders will learn how to avoid costly do-overs, steward resources wisely, and create systems tailored to their unique mission rather than copying another church’s model.
Steve Doby (JH Batten)
Steve is the son of a Baptist pastor and the grandson of a builder, carrying forward a legacy of both ministry and craftsmanship.
From his grandfather, he learned the value of integrity and building trust. From his father, he gained a deep understanding of ministry, having experienced its highs and challenges firsthand.
In 2020, Steve stepped into that calling, combining his passion for the Church with his expertise in construction.
He began with JH Batten, Inc. in 1999 as a field laborer and now serves as Operations Manager, contributing to over 300 church projects. Along the way, he has served in multiple positions, including worship pastor, children’s pastor, student pastor, and bi-vocational senior pastor.
Steve’s passion is simple: to serve and equip the local church by designing and building spaces that support and strengthen ministry.
